One of the first things I think about as a photographer is location, especially when planning sessions in Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge, Ontario.


I always enjoy when clients come with a specific location in mind, especially new places I have not had the chance to photograph yet. I also love sharing location ideas even if we are not working together. But if you are not sure where to go, this list can help spark ideas for beautiful photography locations across Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge.


First, we will break it down by city!



Cambridge Ontario



If you’re searching for beautiful photography spots in Cambridge, Ontario, you’ll find a mix of scenic river views, historic architecture, and hidden natural gems that work perfectly for portraits, couples sessions, and lifestyle photography.



Soper Park - Cambridge

This park features beautiful open spaces, A stream, Gorgeous trees and mill creek running through it.


The Slit Barn - Cambridge

Rustic architecture featuring a stunning Slit Barn, complemented by nearby trails, meadows, trees, and flowering plants.



Sheave Tower - Cambridge

Unique architecture set along a quiet, tree-lined trail



Downtown Galt - Cambridge

The area features a variety of older architectural buildings, including scenic locations along the Grand River with lovely gardens. There are also cozy patios and cafés that add an urban touch.



Jacobs Landing - Cambridge

A charming spot along the river with views of historic Hespeler Village



Riverside Park - Cambridge

Surrounded by lush greenery, mature trees, open spaces and great views!



Mill Race Park - Cambridge

A small park along the Grand River with a short trail, but the views of the river and downtown are truly impressive.




The Kitchener Waterloo Region


If you’re looking for great photography spots in the Kitchener–Waterloo, Ontario area, you’re in luck! This region is full of natural landscapes, charming urban corners, and historic architecture that make the perfect backdrop for portraits, engagement sessions, and lifestyle photography. Below I've included some of my favourites!



Victoria Park - Kitchener

Victoria Park in Kitchener is a must-visit photography location that truly has it all. From scenic bridges and landscaped gardens to beautiful walking paths, a waterfall, a pavilion, the iconic clock tower, mature trees, and water features, it offers endless variety for portrait and lifestyle photography.



Huron Natural Area - Kitchener

A popular photography location in Kitchener featuring forest trails, mature trees, and boardwalks. It offers a variety of natural backdrops for portrait and family photography in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. The site is more spread out, so some walking is required between spots, especially with small children.


Doon Mill Ruins -Kitchener




Other Locations


Explore some of the most scenic photo locations in Southwestern Ontario, including Goldie Mill Ruins in Guelph, Snyders Flats Rd in Woolwich, Elora Gorge in Elora, Rockwood Conservation Area in Rockwood, and Gibson Park in Elmira. Each spot offers unique natural scenery and historic backdrops ideal for outdoor photography sessions.



Goldie Mill Ruins - Guelph

Goldie Mill Park is a unique photography location in Guelph, Ontario, featuring the limestone ruins of an 1800s sawmill. This historic industrial heritage site offers a dramatic and textured backdrop, making it ideal for portrait photography and creative outdoor sessions.



Snyders Flats Rd - Woolwich, ON

There are plenty of tree-lined trails throughout the area, along with tallgrass landscapes that make for beautiful sunset shoots. You’ll find flowering plants, ponds, views of the Grand River, a variety of wooded sections, and even a gravel pit area. The flats are popular with visitors as well as lots of dogs



Elora Gorge - Elora

Unique architecture set along a short forested path, with stunning scenery including a river winding through a steep-walled gorge, plus wooded trails, caves, rock faces, and bridges.



Beautiful escarpment scenery with tree-lined trails, a waterfall, caves, long boardwalks, and rocky, Muskoka-like shorelines, along with large historic mill ruins. (small fee to get in)



Gibson Park - Elmira
